Day 1: Arrival to Bishkek. Visit Ala-Archa National Park
Welcome to Central Asia! Arrive and check in early at the hotel. Take advantage of the opportunity to relax, freshen up with a shower, and enjoy breakfast after your long flight.
Later, embark on a transfer to Ala Archa National Park, nestled in the mountains just 30 km outside of Bishkek. Explore the park with a leisurely walk, taking in the breathtaking views and crisp mountain air. Return to Bishkek for lunch in the city center.
In the afternoon, immerse yourself in a city tour of Bishkek, featuring visits to Osh Bazaar, Panfilov Park, Ala-Too Square, and monuments dedicated to national heroes. Conclude the day with a delightful dinner at a local restaurant, accompanied by a live folklore show.

Day 2: Bishkek-Tamga village
Following breakfast, we set out from Bishkek. Our initial destination is Burana Tower, situated near the town of Tokmok, approximately 60 km east of Bishkek. This 11th-century minaret is the sole surviving structure from the ancient town of Balasagun, once the capital of the formidable Karakhanid empire. A climb up the winding staircase offers a splendid view of the Chuy valley. Additionally, there's a small open-air museum featuring "balbals," carved stone figures used as monuments.
Our journey then takes us to Lake Issyk Kul, the world's second-largest mountain lake after Titicaca. Nestled at an altitude of 1600m, this slightly saline lake has no outlet and is entirely surrounded by the Tien Shan Mountains.
On the southern shore of the lake, we visit the village of Kyzyl-Tuu. Known for its yurt manufacturing, it provides a unique opportunity to delve into the craftsmanship behind Kyrgyz yurts. Continuing along the picturesque southern shore, we reach our yurt camp near the village of Tamga. Upon arrival, there's time for a refreshing swim in the lake before dinner.

Day 3: Tamga village - Kochkor
Following breakfast, embark on a westward drive along the lake's southern shore towards the village of Kochkor. En route, our first pause is at the canyon known as "Skazka," meaning "Fairytale." This canyon boasts a surreal rocky landscape, sculpted over the years by the whims of the wind into fantastical formations and sculptures. Take a brief stroll through the canyon to appreciate its unique features.
In the village of Bokonbaevo, our next stop introduces us to an Eagle hunter who will demonstrate their skills for us. Eventually, we reach Kochkor, where a visit to a workshop awaits. Here, local women craft carpets from felt, and you even have the opportunity to try your hand at this traditional art. Conclude the day with dinner at a local family-run guesthouse, followed by an overnight stay in a cozy small hotel.

Day 4: Kochkor - Son Kul lake (150km)
Following breakfast, we head towards another mountain lake - Song Kul. Despite its proximity to Kochkor, the journey involves navigating challenging road conditions, making the ascent to the lake both lengthy and bumpy. Situated at an elevation of 3016 meters above sea level, Lake Song Kul is a mountainous gem. Nomads spend their summers on the "jailoo" (summer pasture) with their animals. For those interested, there's an opportunity for a brief horse ride. The yurt camp is situated approximately 3 kilometers from the lake's shore.

Day 5: Son Kul lake -Bishkek (380 km) - Osh city (flight 1h)
Following breakfast, proceed with the transfer to Bishkek, retracing the same route as our arrival. Enjoy lunch at the "Hawaii" restaurant en route. Subsequently, head directly to Bishkek airport to catch the evening flight to Kyrgyzstan's second-largest city, Osh (scheduled from 6:45 pm to 7:35 pm, subject to change). Upon arriving in Osh, partake in a late dinner and transfer to the hotel.

Day 6: Osh city tour - Fergana in Uzbekistan (170km)
After breakfast, engage in a brief city tour of Osh, including a visit to the Suleiman Mountain, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Affectionately referred to as Kichi-Mecca (Little Mecca), Suleiman Too is a sacred mountain that holds significant importance for both Muslim and pre-Muslim pilgrims. At its summit lies a stone shelter named Babur's House, named after the 15-16th-century Muslim leader who founded the Mughal Dynasty in India.
Following lunch, transfer to the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border. Complete border formalities, then meet your Uzbek guide and driver to commence the Uzbekistan leg of the journey in the Fergana Valley. Nestled amidst the Tien Shan mountain range and irrigated by tributaries of the Syr Darya River, this region is renowned as the most fertile part of Central Asia. Once a prosperous oasis during the era of Alexander the Great and along the Great Silk Road, it remains culturally rich.
Before reaching Fergana, pause in Margilan, a renowned Silk Road stop. The town's economic life is still centered around silk textile production. To delve deeper into its essence, visit the Margilan Yodgrolik Silk Factory. Using natural dyes and traditional Uzbek ikat designs, Yodgorlik produces exquisite pieces. Witness the silk production process, from raising silkworms on mulberry leaves to unraveling the cocoons for raw material. Various fabric classes are created, including the pure silk "khon atlas" and cotton/silk blends known as "adras."
After the insightful visit, proceed to Fergana for check-in and dinner at the hotel. Despite its youth, Fergana was established as a Russian garrison town at the end of the 19th century.

Day 7: Fergana - Kokand (100km) - Tashkent(train 4 h)
We have an additional day to explore the Fergana Valley, a region now renowned in Uzbekistan not only for its agriculture but also for its skilled artisans and vibrant markets. Following a visit to the local market in Fergana, we'll embark on an approximately one-hour drive to Rishtan. This town is celebrated throughout Uzbekistan for its distinctive ceramics. The prominence of pottery in this area is no accident; the red clay and pigments available here boast excellent quality. During our visit, we'll have the opportunity to explore the studio of a pottery master, delving into the art and passion that has been passed down through generations.
Continuing our journey from Rishtan, we proceed to Kokand, another historically significant town recognized as a trading and religious center. In the 19th century, it served as the capital of the Kokand Khanate, extending all the way to the southern Kazakh steppe. A brief sightseeing tour awaits us, encompassing the remnants of Khudayar Khan’s Palace and the impressive Jami Mosque.
Concluding our day, we catch the 5:30 pm train from Kokand to Tashkent, reaching the Uzbek capital at 9:20 pm. Transfer to the hotel upon arrival.

Day 8: Tashkent city tour
Tashkent, the largest city in Central Asia and one of its oldest, underwent significant changes due to a devastating earthquake in 1966, leading to the destruction of most of its historic structures. However, a few noteworthy buildings, particularly within the Khast Imom Complex, managed to withstand the catastrophe. Our first destination on today's Tashkent city tour is this complex, housing the ancient Quran book of Caliph Uthman (dating back to the 7th century!) and the mausoleum of the revered Islamic saint, Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi. Following this, we immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Chorsu Bazaar, interacting with local traders. A ride on the Tashkent Metro is next on the agenda, followed by visits to Amir Temur and Independence Squares.

Day 9: Tashkent - Khiva (flight 2h)
Early this morning, we will be transferred to the domestic airport for a 7:25 am flight to Urgench. Upon arriving in Urgench at 8:55 am, a brief 40-minute transfer will take us to Khiva.
Our exploration focuses on the walled inner-city section known as Ichan-Kala. This ancient quarter boasts over fifty historical monuments and numerous centuries-old houses, earning the entire citadel UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Passing through the grand city gates, the Kalta-minor Minaret, a gleaming Islamic landmark, comes into view. Embark on a guided tour that encompasses all the city's significant sites, including a climb up the Islam Khodja Minaret, Khiva's tallest minaret. From the Kunya-Ark Citadel, savor expansive views of Old Khiva. As we dine, an exotic folklore show featuring local musicians and dancers from the Khorezm region will captivate us.

Day 10: Khozerm - Bukhara (flight)
Today, you have the option to enjoy a day at your leisure in Khiva, or you can choose to participate in a half-day trip to the Ayaz Kala & Toprak Kala ruins in the desert (involving some steep ascents on foot). Following breakfast, our journey takes us towards the clay ruins of ancient Khorezm in the desert.
The first leg of our exploration involves a 2-hour drive to Toprak Kala, the ancient capital city of Khorezm dating back to around the 2nd century AD. From there, another bumpy one-hour drive leads us to Ayaz Kala. Based on archaeological excavations, the Ayaz Kala fortress traces its origins back to the 2nd century BC. It was an integral part of a network of border fortresses spanning from east to west, defending the Khiva oasis from the desert side.
After our desert adventure, we return to Khiva for lunch and enjoy free time in the afternoon. Ensure a late check-out from the hotel by 6:00 pm. In the evening, we catch a flight to Bukhara departing at 9:10 pm. Upon our arrival at 10:05 pm at Bukhara airport, we transfer to the hotel.

Day 11: Bukhara city tour
Our next UNESCO World Heritage site brings us to the captivating city of Bukhara, a name that evokes images of the exotic Orient. Renowned for centuries as a vital trading hub and a center of academia, the Old Town of Bukhara stands as a testament to its rich history. Preserved meticulously, it abounds with minarets, mosques, and madrassas. While the once-infamous canals and pools, sources of past epidemics, have been drained, the renowned Lyabi-Hauz remains—an oasis shaded by mulberry trees at the city's heart.
Your guide will lead you through the unmissable sights of the city, allowing you to absorb the atmosphere as you wander through Bukhara's labyrinthine alleyways. Highlights of today's walking tour in the Old Town include the Minorai Kalon complex, Ark Fortress, Bolo Hauz Mosque, Chiobs Mausoleum, and spring, as well as the Mausoleum of the Samanids. The guided tour concludes in the early afternoon, granting you some free time before dinner. Dinner will be served in the city, allowing you to savor the local culinary delights.

Day 12: Bukharan - Samarkand (train 2 h)
Complete the hotel check-out process and embark on a journey to visit the Mausoleum of Naqshbandiy, situated 15 kilometers outside the city center. Sufism boasts numerous orders, and representatives from various orders have had a historical presence in what is now Uzbekistan. Among these, the Naqshbandiyya Sufi order stands out for its profound and enduring influence, with the memorial site continuing to attract pilgrims.
Following this spiritual visit, explore the summer residence of the last Emir of Bukhara, known as Sitorai Mokhi Hossa, which translates to "The place where the moon meets the stars" in Persian. On the return journey to Bukhara, catch a glimpse of the Chor Minor madrasa, characterized by its four minarets (chor - four) and architectural style reminiscent of Indian influences. Enjoy lunch in the city.
Board the high-speed train Afrosiob at 3:52 pm for a swift journey to Samarkand, arriving at 5:20 pm. Transfer to the hotel for check-in and have dinner in the city.

Day 13: Samarkand city tour
The magnificent city of Samarkand conjures images of a bygone era filled with romance and intrigue. It was the realm of Timur, a formidable conqueror in history. Timur's vast empire, which rivaled any across the Eurasian steppe, witnessed his iron-fisted rule alongside a patronage of arts and literature. A significant portion of his architectural legacy has been meticulously preserved, offering a glimpse into the city's grandeur at the zenith of his power.
Our day begins with a visit to the Gur-Emir mausoleum, the final resting place of Timur. Here, we delve into the stories of his life and the initiation of Samarkand's construction. Subsequently, we proceed to Registan Square, an iconic landmark not only for Samarkand but also for Uzbekistan. This ancient focal point is framed by three splendid madrassas – Ulugbek, Sherdor, and Tillya Kori.
After lunch, we carve out time to explore the vibrant Siab Bazaar, where an array of fruits and vegetables cultivated from the fertile soil of the Zarafshan Valley is showcased in a lively market. The evening grants you free time to explore the city at your leisure.

Day 14: Samarkand - Tashkent (train 2h)
Following breakfast, our first stop is the Konigil Paper Mill, where you can observe the paper production process using mulberry tree bark, reminiscent of the techniques employed in 8th-century Samarkand. Next, we proceed to Shahi Zinda, exploring the street adorned with turquoise and blue domes.
After a satisfying lunch, you have the option to enjoy free time or visit Ulugbek’s Observatory and the Afrasiyab Museum. The museum provides insights into the ancient city of Samarkand, known as Afrasiyab, which fell to the Mongols' destruction in the early 13th century.
In the late afternoon, we catch our train to Tashkent, departing at 5:30 pm. Upon arrival in Tashkent at 7:40 pm, relish dinner at a local restaurant before checking in at the hotel.
